The final countdown!!

Can you ever forgive me for neglecting the blog?

I’ve just been incredibly busy working hard on my numbers. Practicing in my spare time, focusing while at rehearsal! … We’ve got to make this the best show since the last one! So, please, pleeeease forgive me?

GOOD! Because here we are and it’s show week! We’re in full run-thus, moving to the theatre and finalizing each piece of sequence on each piece of costume. It looks amazing.

Which night are you coming? I’d say come Thursday, opening night is always incredible. The energy of the audience and group are sky-high. Of course, as performers we are always full force with energy so you best come Friday or Saturday if your schedule doesn’t permit Thursday! How about dinner and a show with your best friend or significant other! Just like back in the day, sounds like a sweet date to me.
I can’t wait to see your face this week!

No turning back now!

Folks, we have entered Run Thru stage.

First let me say, Holy Moly.

Then, let me go on! This past Sunday we went through the show from start to finish, walking through all of the songs and details.

During most of our rehearsal time the cast is a bit disconnected. Dancers are in one room, singers in the other. People in this song hardly see people in that song…

This was the first time we were all together watching and cleaning all at once! For each song!

Not only did it help every single one of us understand what was happening at each point but it gave us such bonding experiences.

Let me tell you… It. Was. Awesome.

We have a complete 2 hour show that will have you laughing, crying, questioning, and sitting on the edge of your seats. I’m so excited that it is just over 3 weeks away because I really can’t wait any longer for you to see it!

Lynette informed us of all the high-seated Theatre and Arts “fanatics” for lack of better term… will be coming to review our show. So, you know you’re getting your money’s worth because if these guys want to come and sit through it, you know it’s good AND your money will be going to support kids (pssst, check this out!! http://www.recreationunlimited.org/).

Speaking of kids… a few of our singers had the greatest opportunity to share our talents with some really cool kids. One sweet little lady is Faith Pruden, and she held a Christmas party yesterday and invited us!! YES!!! Because when you have a Christmas party, you’re going to need carolers!! Read up on Faith, http://www.faithswishlist.com, then you’ll know why we were so honored to go and sing for her (I got to sing with the little kids!!)

All I can really end with is that… I love the creativity. I love the camaraderie. I love the kids! And I know you will to.

One Step Closer

Have I some news to dish!

Not only are we performers but we’re people too! People who have tons of talent off-stage. Talents like designing, taking pictures, choreographing, organizing, managing, collecting… trust me, these are talents when you have to encompass all 70some people that are somehow involved with the show!!

All performers belong to a committee that focuses on a facet of the performance. Costumes, Marketing, Appreciation, Tickets etc etc.

So the news?? We just got our costume lists!!!!!

ARE YOU EXCITED?!?!

Ok, fine. Well, I am. I want to know how I’m going to look on stage for my close ups :)

I share this piece of info because I just realized how visually stunning we’re all going to be. This has got to be one of the hardest and yet coolest committees. So much rides on the visual effects we create with our bodies. I mean, the set – oh man – don’t get me started (ITS CRAZY AWESOME) but what if the set fell over the day before the show? What if there was a freak fire and we had to perform the show on the street? ::The Show Must Go On:: You would completely understand the show with just our costumes… now that is awesome.

Also, one neat part about costuming with SNAP! that I appreciate is that we do a lot of “closet pulling” which means some of our costume pieces/parts are things we have to supply from our own closets. Now, some of you can appreciate the thrifyness this takes. Really, what makes this so cool is that it adds variety to the show! No two people look the same (unless they are supposed to). We each get to add a piece of ourselves to the overall picture.

Just to give you a taste of what we’re starting with….

Now you’ll just have to come to the show to see the final results! haHA!

The Adventure Begins!

Hey all, Lindsey here! As a veteran singer and dancer I’ve spent the last 5 years watching this group grow from an awesome crew of friends into a Italian-like family (no, really, there’s always food and lots of hugging). Of course I can’t show you all the itty-bitty details that go into each rehearsal, each outing, each bonding moment. But we thought, maybe our patrons would want to get a glimpse into the work behind the scenes. The light bulb went off and we decided to use this blog as a platform to bring you in.

To get you all caught up, we began back in December with a Kick-off party to bring everyone together. Meet new members, reconnect with old members, see board members…

This kick off was to bring everyone together to start off the season right! Then we gathered into our committees to start planning for the year. Costumes, tickets, marketing, member appreciation…. so much to do! The best part? Lynette regaled us with the show line-up and the story line. Yes, you heard me. Story line!

This is going to be incredible! Each year we have progressed. The show started out as a musical revue, so to speak. Over the years it’s weaved and wiggled into a show with a story. And now, a defined story board with main characters is a whole new ball game for us!

Here we are. It’s March ALREADY! Rehearsals were split into 3 sections this year, so that we could focus on certain songs for a set amount of time. We just finished Session A and started selling tickets!!!!

What an exciting time. We’re getting so close, I can taste the stage! ..no, not becuase I’ve fallen during rehearsal so many times..

After seeing all of the Session A songs and begining to learn Session B, all I can say is ‘wow.’ The variety of styles, genre’s and talents used is so incredible. The best part of this line-up is how accessible the songs are and how there’s something in it for everyone! No matter your personality, theres something in this show you’ll love!!

There’s more to come, I’ll keep you posted!

Hello world!
