Dancers - Perform With Us!

Frequently Asked Questions

Read the questions and answers below to help prepare for a dance audition.

Do I need a performance resume?
A performance resume is highly recommended but not required.

What can I do to prepare for dance auditions?
Research, check out our website and learn exactly what styles you'll be auditioning for. If it's been awhile since you've auditioned we suggest stretching & running through some steps before coming to auditions.

Are your auditions open?
Yes, though we suggest calling or emailing us to register ahead of time.

Do I need to prepare an audition piece?
That depends. If you plan on auditioning for another style that is outside of our group auditions, then yes. If you plan on auditioning for hip-hop, jazz, contemporary lyrical, or tap, then no you do not, we will teach the choreography.

How long are the audition routines? How quickly are they taught?
Our audition pieces are usually 6-10 counts of 8. They are usually taught in approximately 15-20 minutes.

What should I wear to auditions?
You should wear dance attire that allows us to see the lines of your body. Please no sweatpants.

What will the judges be looking for?
Our # 1 criteria is technique! We can tell whether you have technique even if you don't pick up choreography fast. Our next biggest thing is your personality, do you come alive when you're dancing, is your stage presence there? A lot of dancers come to auditions and never once smile. That immediately makes us question how they will look onstage.
